Paras Bhayani is a resident of Winchester’s Precinct 8 (Lynch district) where he lives with his wife and two young daughters.
Paras brings considerable public and private sector financial expertise to the Town. Paras has extensive experience in corporate finance and business strategy, including as a private equity investor and corporate strategist at the world’s largest asset manager and at a top-tier consulting firm. Before his private sector career, Paras spent several years in the public sector, including as the head of the $1.7bn operating and capital budget of the City of Chicago’s transit authority, where he gained substantial experience with operating budgets, labor agreements, pension finance, and bond issuances, among other topics.
A former educator who began his career teaching high school math in the Chicago Public Schools, Paras is deeply involved in education issues in Winchester and in Massachusetts. He was a founding member of the Winchester Literacy Initiative for Change, a parent-led group focused on strengthening our early literacy curriculum. At the state level, he serves on the Massachusetts board of OneGoal and has been involved in Massachusetts’ Early College efforts. Paras has a wide range of civic board experience, including as a past board member of the Massachusetts Sierra Club, one of the state’s largest environmental organizations.
Paras received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his MBA from Harvard Business School with Distinction. Paras is married to Dr. Azmina Bhayani, who is an attending physician and faculty member at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, where she focuses on women’s health.
